Lucinda Peterken originally trained as an actress in London at Arts Educational Schools, then, later, as a secondary school English and Drama teacher. She has over 25 years of teaching experience, both for schools in the UK as well as private tuition and coaching worldwide.
Since moving to Waiheke from the UK in 2008, Lucinda has run workshops and drama courses for both adults and children, directed numerous plays, co-founded Waiheke Theatre Company in 2011, and last year set up the Waiheke Shakespeare Company. She is currently teaching Speech & Drama classes in all three schools on the island, preparing students for Trinity College Acting & Speaking exams. Occasionally she also runs workshops for businesses in Auckland, both for Public Speaking and Communication Skills.
Lucinda’s passion is using drama as a medium for personal growth and development. She is excited to be directing the play reading premier of Carl Nixon’s new play, especially having directed both excerpts of ‘Two Fish ‘n’ a Scoop’ in 2011 and a full production of ‘The Raft’ earlier this year.
