Ingrid grew up in Auckland in an extended family, her parents having fled Estonia and Russia. Immersed in the songs, language and revelations of her Estonian mother, grandmother and great aunt, and the music and colour of her father’s Russian memories, Ingrid was bound to write her history into a story.
With a degree in History of Art and Italian from Auckland University and a Dip Tchg, Ingrid travelled with her husband and two sons. In Vancouver and Australia she continued with post graduate studies in teaching. She lived in Switzerland, the UK, Canada, the US and Australia and eventually gave away teaching to write.
Leaping the Fire is a fiction based on the life of Ingrid’s intrepid great aunt who fled numerous dire situations during her long life. A self-published e-book, Leaping the Fire will also be released in hardcopy.
Ingrid has paused travelling and lives on Waiheke Island where she awakens to birdsong, and where creative works flourish.
