Writer, actress, film director, playwright, theatre reviewer and Lauris Edmond’s daughter and Literary Executor. Lauris and Frances collaborated on many projects including poetry readings and recordings and a one-woman play titled Between Night and Morning that Lauris wrote for Frances.
As a screenwriter, Frances has had four short films made: The Beach, selected for competition at Cannes; The Bar; Consequences; Eeling, which won the Atlantis award for best foreign short screenplay at Moondance and was subsequently produced by Albedo Films, premiering in March 2011.
Her most recent film has been a Waiheke venture: writing and directing a short film titled The Apple Tree. The film is now in post-production.
Frances and Stephanie Bennett have recently received funding from CNZ for a documentary about Lauris – A Matter of Timing – and with Waiheke poet, Sue Fitchett, Frances is preparing an anthology of Lauris’ writing tentatively titled, The Night Burns with a White Fire: the Essential Lauris Edmond.
